Request for information on those MPs who have claimed for fire safety

Request

I would like to know if any MP has tried to claim for their fire safety/EWS1 form via MP expenses please.

Response

Chapter 6.4 of The Scheme of MPs’ Business Costs and Expenses (the Scheme) says:

MPs are entitled to exercise reasonable discretion over claims for items that meet the purposes of the office costs budget, provided that the claims adhere to the fundamental principles and general conditions of the Scheme.

You can find out if MPs have made claims relating to fire safety by going to IPSA's Annual Publication.

You can then download individual expense data by financial year, and do a search on “fire”. This will retrieve occurrences where MPs have claimed for fire safety measures with further details.

As this information can be found on our website, it is subject to a Refusal Notice under section 21 of the FOIA (reasonably accessible by other means) .

You can also see a copy of the Scheme.
