Claims for business costs by Neil Parish MP

Request

Please can you let me know if the (then) MP Neil Parish was entitled to claim an allowance ( and how much that allowance is) for attending Parliament on the day/ occasion that he was caught watching Pornography?

Has Mr Parish submitted a claim for this day and if so has this claim been paid?

Response

I can confirm that we hold information relevant to your request.

IPSA sets, administers and regulates MPs’ staffing and business costs, pay and pensions. MPs are paid a salary by IPSA and can submit a claim in accordance with The Scheme of MPs’ Staffing and Business Costs (the Scheme).

Unless an MP is suspended from the House of Commons, in accordance with Standing Order 44, they will continue to receive their salary and be able to submit claims in accordance with the Scheme.

You can find out more about Standing Orders of the House of Commons – Public Business on the UK Parliament website.

IPSA does not hold information relating to the dates in question and therefore cannot provide any details on what claims may have been submitted by Mr Parish on those days. IPSA publishes the details of all MPs’ staffing and business costs on its website in accordance with our publication schedule.

And you can see the information we publish about Mr Parish.
