Compliance Officer for IPSA Appointed, 20 December 2016

Andy McDonald has been appointed as the new Compliance Officer for IPSA, effective from 8 January 2017. Andy replaces outgoing Compliance Officer Peter Davis who has held that office since December 2011.
Chair of IPSA, Ruth Evans said:
"The Compliance Officer plays a crucial and independent role in ensuring that MPs spend public funds properly according to the rules of the MPs’ Scheme of Business Costs and Expenses, and that IPSA administers those rules fairly. I am delighted to confirm the appointment of Andy McDonald to the office and look forward to working with him to ensure fair and robust regulation of MPs’ business costs."
Responding to his appointment, Andy McDonald said: "I look forward to working as the new Compliance Officer for IPSA taking over from Peter Davis. I recognise this appointment as an important role with big responsibilities and look forward to working with IPSA, meeting MPs, and ensuring that public money is being spent appropriately."

Andy McDonald served in the Metropolitan Police Service for 30 years, retiring as a Detective Superintendent. An experienced detective for over two decades, Andy’s roles include working as Head of Specialist Investigations at SO15 Counter Terrorism Command, New Scotland Yard, and Head of the MPS Fraud Squad, with responsibility for the investigation and prevention of complex fraud, art, antique, and gaming crime within London and across the UK.
