Data publication – 13 July

On 13 July we will be publishing details of MPs’ business costs for February 2023 and March 2023 as part of our routine publication of data every two months.

You can now access the latest batch of your business costs using the Publication Data service.

We strongly advise that you check your data as it’s really important that you get to see it before it gets published. Please contact us as soon as possible if you think anything has been missed.

IPSA rental valuations

In December 2022, we notified you that you are no longer required to provide a rental valuation when registering or renewing a property with IPSA, nor will the cost come out of the office or accommodation budget.

We also announced that we had contracted CBRE Ltd to provide specific rental valuations for IPSA and that we will fund these valuations from the contingency fund.

After an initial list of properties were valued, regular lists of relevant properties are now being sent to our supplier and CBRE will be in contact via email to arrange an appointment visit where applicable.

MPs can still instruct and claim for their own surveyors and rental valuations but will not be required to get a rental valuation to register the property with IPSA.

Staff home office changes

In June 2022 we shared new guidance advising how staff members on home-based contracts can receive contributions towards their homeworking costs, such as through the homeworking allowance.

Due to the streamlining of this process, staff member home office registrations on IPSA Online are no longer required.

We are currently identifying and closing any home offices that are still active for staff members.

While we complete this exercise, please remember not to use any remaining active staff home offices when making claims.

As part of our review of registered home offices, we are also identifying any home offices for MPs which are no longer relevant, and closing these where appropriate.
