Request for details of employment of Chinese nationals

Request

I recently visited an MPs office and noticed three Chinese national present in his office, when ashk who they were I was told they were Chinese interns.

For my research please can you supply list of MPs who have Chinese nationals in their employ or as student interns, and what links if any they have with the Chinese Communist Party.

Also I would like to see a list of MPs who have had donations from Chinese own companies and organisation.

Response

IPSA does not hold any of the information which you have requested.

The information we hold on MPs’ staff would not include their nationality or any overseas political affiliations they may have as IPSA does not collect this.

As I am sure you are aware the UK has rules about checking whether an individual has the right to work in the UK, more information about this can be found on gov.uk.

There are no additional rules which apply to MPs regarding the employment of staff or the offering of unpaid work experience as interns, apprentices or volunteers.

IPSA also does not hold information about party political donations. The Electoral Commission publishes details of donations and loans to political parties in excess of £7,500.
