We hold the information which you have requested, but we have estimated that the cost of meeting your request would exceed the cost limit under section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act.

Under section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act, IPSA is not obliged to comply with an information request where to do so would exceed the cost limit. As a public body listed under Part IV of Schedule 1 of the Act, the cost limit specified for IPSA in the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004 is 18 staff hours or a total cost of £450.

When estimating the cost of compliance, we can only take into account the cost of the following activities:

• finding the requested information, or records containing the information;

• retrieving the information or records; and

• extracting the requested information from records.

The costs do not include considering whether any information is exempt from disclosure, overheads, or items such as photocopying or postage.

• 0.90 Seconds to export 1 line

• 35.00 Seconds to find and save 1 line

This gives a total of 29.63 hours to export, find and save the information requested. We are therefore unable to provide the information you have requested.

If you refine your request, so that it is more likely to fall under the cost limit, we will consider it again, for example, by narrowing the time frame. Please note that if you simply break your request down into a series of similar smaller requests, we might still decline to answer it if the total cost exceeds £450.
