Average salary increase of IPSA staff, per grade, since 2010

Per grade, what is the average salary increase (excluding the 1% yearly increase or yearly inflationary increase) per year since 2010 of internal IPSA staff.

IPSA holds the information that you request.

IPSA is not part of the civil service and is not bound by the same pay restrictions that have been in place in recent years. However, since IPSA was established in 2010, it has been decided to link annual pay awards to that of the wider public sector; pay was initially frozen until 2013-14 when any pay awards were limited to an average of 1% across the workforce.

The salaries of individual members of staff may changed as a result of changes to their working arrangements, including (but not limited to):

  • promotions (permanent and temporary) to new roles;

  • changes to working hours;

  • returning from maternity or paternity leave; and

  • re-grading of roles.

Salary information is not held on our systems in a way which allows us to easily extract the salary information that you have requested, broken down by grade and financial year. As such, providing the information dating back to 2010 would require manual inspection of hard-copy records. We undertook a test to estimate the amount of time it would take to locate, retrieve and extract this information from our systems. We estimate that it would take over the appropriate cost limit of £450 (part 1 of Schedule 1 of the Freedom of Information Act). Consequently, IPSA is not obliged to respond to your request (see section 12(1), FOIA).

You may, however, be interested in information already published on IPSA’s staffing arrangements, which can be found on our website at the following address: http://parliamentarystandards.org.uk/transparency/Pages/IPSA-facts-and-figures.aspx/.

More detailed information on the remuneration of IPSA’s Board and senior members of staff can also be found at the address, or within IPSA’s annual reports published following the end of each financial year. Copies of these reports can be found at the following address: http://parliamentarystandards.org.uk/transparency/Pages/Corporate-reports-and-publications.aspx.
