Receipts for rent, rental agreements and correspondence with landlord relating to claims made by Bernard Jenkin MP
In processing your request, we have searched our systems for all registrations, claims and correspondence relating to rent for both accommodation and constituency offices. Mr Jenkin does not make claims for constituency office rent; the information contained in our response therefore relates to claims for accommodation rent, which Mr Jenkin claimed until June 2012.

IPSA holds this information.
IPSA does not, as a matter of course, publish images of receipts or invoices supporting claims. We believe that the information we proactively publish on IPSA’s Publication website (www.parliamentary-standards.org.uk) provides a significant amount of detail and gives a clear picture of what MPs are claiming for and affords reassurance that claims are both appropriate for MPs to carry out their parliamentary functions, and in accordance with the rules set out in the MPs’ Scheme of Business Costs and Expenses.
Our approach is to provide the information released on IPSA’s publication website relating to these claims, as well as all additional information contained on invoices. Exemptions in the FOIA may apply to some of the information, for instance, where the information contains bank details or account numbers.
Please find attached, at Annex A, all extracted invoices held by IPSA relating to claims for accommodation rent. We have redacted the address of the property, alongside the names of third parties, under section 40 of the FOIA.
Section 40(2) provides that personal information about third parties is exempt information if one of the conditions set out in section 40(3) is satisfied. Under the FOI Act disclosure of this information would breach the fair processing principle (Principle 1) of the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA), where it would be unfair to those persons or is confidential. For further information, you may wish to visit the UK Legislation website.
