Staff employed on temporary contracts in 2013 and 2014, by MP
Request
What is the total number of staff employed on temporary contracts in 2013 & 2014 for each MP?
Response
IPSA holds the information that you request.
Please find attached, at Annex A, total number of employees employed on fixed-term contracts, who have a defined start and end date, and were employed at some point between 1 January 2013 and the date of your request, 19 September 2014.
Individuals employed on temporary fixed-term contracts include those who provide staffing cover for maternity or sickness. It also includes individuals carrying out paid apprenticeships, as well as employed interns, who receive a salary. Needless to say, each fixed-term contract varies in length. In some instances, the fixed-term contracts may have lasted a few days, and in other instances, they may have lasted a number of years.
Further, if an individual was initially employed on a fixed-term contract and subsequently moved, without a break in service, to a permanent contract, they are not included within the figures.
Please note, the figures provided at Annex A do not indicate that the individuals listed are still in employment, nor the number of people working in an MP’s office at any one time.
