Expense claimed queried by IPSA via email

Request

Between 1st January 2012 and 30th June 2012, which expenses claims did IPSA query via email?

Please include in your response the name of the MP, what was claimed for and the amount claimed, why it was queried, and the result of the query

Response

IPSA holds the information that you request.

We hold on our systems details of all correspondence between IPSA and Members of Parliament.  However, in order to respond to your query, it would be necessary to locate, retrieve and extract those emails referring only to queries about expense claims, before identifying the claim to which they correspond.

We carried out a test for the time it would take to check all correspondence in order to locate, retrieve and extract the expense claims IPSA queried via email and have estimated the staff time it would take to provide the information requested. We estimate that it would take us considerably over the appropriate cost limit of £450 (part 1 of Schedule 1 of the Freedom of Information Act).  Consequently, IPSA is not obliged to respond to your request (see section 12(1), FOIA).
