Claims for Business Costs and Expenses

Claims for business costs and expenses are published on our website bimonthly, three months in arrears.  You may view the published information via this link to our publication website. The next publication date is 21 March 2013, which covers those claims processed by IPSA during October and November.  Claims subsequently processed by IPSA will follow in future publications, including those for winding up expenditure[1].

MPs’ Salaries

Details of , including that of Chris Huhne, are published as part of the annual data release on our website.  The salary paid between specific dates can be calculated by pro rating the published annual figure.  We can confirm that the salary remained unchanged during 2012/13.

The FOIA states that information that is easily accessible by other means is not subject to release.  Therefore, as the information you have requested is already available on our website it is exempt from disclosure under section 21 of the FOIA (information accessible to applicant by other means).

[1] Under the MPs’ Scheme of Business Costs and Expenses, claims for winding up expenditure may be made to “to meet the cost of completing the outstanding parliamentary functions of a person who ceases to be an MP”.  Claims for winding up expenditure may only be claimed for business costs and expenses incurred during the two month period after leaving Parliament.  The Scheme allows a maximum of 90 days for submission of claims after a business cost or expense has been incurred.
