Whether MPs elected in 2012 will be paying their staff the London Living Wage
Request
Out of the new intake of Members of Parliament that have arrived after recent by elections, how many have indicated that they wish that there staff are paid the living wage both in and outside of London.
Of that list could you identify the names of those that have asked for the living wage to be paid.
Response
In answering your request, we presume you refer to the following six Members of Parliament elected in recent by-elections:
Sarah Champion
Stephen Doughty
Andy McDonald
Lucy Powell
Steve Reed
Andy Sawford
It is important to note that the newly elected MPs will be in the process of establishing their offices, which we understand is currently ongoing and, therefore, IPSA holds some of the information that you request.
We can confirm that out of the six MPs elected in by-elections held in 2012, we hold information relating to the following four MPs, all of whom have employees registered on the payroll paid above the living wage:
Stephen Doughty
Andy McDonald
Lucy Powell
Andy Sawford
Again, it should be noted that the process of establishing new offices and putting in place staff members for the newly elected MPs will still be underway. We expect the full staff complement for all six newly-elected MPs to be registered with IPSA in due course.
