Names of MPs with outstanding payment card sums and action taken

  1. The names of all MPs who have had sums outstanding on Payment Cards for more than 90 days as of today’s date; and the amounts owed by each.

  2. The names of all MPs who have had their Payment Card limit reduced, stating in each case whether it was for gross misuse or non-reconciliation of statements.

In relation to the first part of your request, you provided clarification on 11 February that the information you sought specifically related to the delay in MPs repaying IPSA. I can confirm that no MPs have outstanding repayments owed to IPSA for more than 90 days.

Turning to the second part of your request, I can advise that 10 MPs have had their Payment Card limit reduced following non-reconciliation of their statements. No MPs have had their Payment Card reduced for misuse. We have withheld the names of the individual MPs under section 40 (personal information) of the FOI Act as the information constitutes personal data. Section 40(2) provides that personal data about third parties is exempt information if one of the conditions set out in section 40(3) is satisfied. Under the FOI Act disclosure of this information would breach the fair processing principle (Principle 1) of the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA), where it would be unfair to those persons or is confidential.
